The Faculty of Technical Sciences in Kosovska Mitrovica was established by the Decision on the Establishment of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Kosovska Mitrovica and the Abolition of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Pristina, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Pristina, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Pristina, and the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy in Kosovska Mitrovica, on October 19th, 2001, by the Government of the Republic of Serbia (“Sl. Glasnik RS” No. 60/2001).
The Faculty of Technical Sciences is a higher education institution and a higher education unit of the University of Pristina with the status of a legal entity. The full name of the faculty is the University of Pristina Faculty of Technical Sciences. The faculty’s headquarters are in Kosovska Mitrovica, at Knjaza Milosa Street no. 7. The faculty’s abbreviated name is FTN. In business correspondence, the faculty also uses the name in English: University of Pristina, Faculty of Technical Sciences. The faculty is registered in the court register of the Commercial Court in Pristina, with its headquarters in Kraljevo, registration number FN. 252/01 of December 11th, 2001. The Faculty Day is celebrated on October 19th, which marks the day of its establishment.
In accordance with the permit for work, the Faculty of Technical Sciences implements academic and professional study programs, conducts educational courses for lifelong learning and other forms of studies for knowledge and professional education and development, and realizes and develops scientific and research work within the scientific fields for which it is accredited. In the teaching process at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, prominent professors from other universities of the Republic of Serbia are also involved.
The faculty includes a computer center, a library, and a TV studio.
The computer center was formed with the intention of providing support for modernizing the process of teaching and scientific research at FTN and is located on the first floor of the teaching block in the FTN building.
The library is also located in the faculty building and has a space that meets library standards. It has a workspace and storage space of 40 square meters and a reading room of 80 square meters. The reading room has 50 seats in a pleasant ambiance.
TV studio.
Since the academic year of 2017/2018, the Faculty of Technical Sciences has been operating the most modern multimedia HDTV studio for TV program production. It was founded within the Erasmus+ DBBT project, with the aim of gaining practical knowledge in the field of digital television technology and broadcasting. The studio is equipped with the latest 4K equipment for complete TV production and post-production. The HDTV studio can be connected to any TV in the world via an IP connection. The studio is designed to be multifunctional and consists of the following areas: control room where audio and video control devices are located, machine room which is soundproof and thermally insulated, and where television system equipment is located, studio part consisting of three scenes (two neutral and one with a green screen for virtual studio) and a desk room with computers.
As part of the studio, the FTN TV Student Television was also formed. FTN TV Student Television started operating in 2017 and is engaged in the implementation of exclusively scientific, educational, and educational content. Production and post-production are entirely realized by students of the University of Pristina with headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica, under the mentorship of assistants and professors.
